We are seeking a Technician, IT & Telecommunications to support IT users and handle all aspects of networking and telecommunications needs including special projects.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Manager, Administration, the Advisor, IT & Telecommunications is responsible for providing day to day user support including maintaining computer equipment, troubleshooting and performing adjustments and minor repairs. This person will also handle network connectivity, manage information security, and implement overall IT and Telecommunication services and special projects.

MAGINO MINE:

The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide direct support to users across the Magino site by conducting workstation setup, performing IT maintenance tasks, and ensuring employee connectivity to networks including printers and scanners used by multiple users.

• Handle minor repairs as required.

• Maintain IT and Telecommunications documentation and records.

• Diagnose connectivity or data access problems and answer questions about hardware and software.

• Manage information security, set up antivirus programs on workstations, develop policies for email security, and perform periodic data audits and backups to prevent information loss and unauthorized access.

• Troubleshoot systems and hardware.

• Work with third party providers on ongoing projects.

• Review IT requests (software and hardware), complete Purchase Requisitions and order and receive required equipment.

• Control equipment distribution and inventory replenishment.

• Provide support for radio communications across the site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields.

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in IT user support, telecommunications and networking, preferably in mining, manufacturing, heavy industry.

• Experience supporting IT user base of 100 (minimum preferred) including workstation setup, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and answering user questions.

• Experience providing network support including connectivity, working with third party providers and business software implementation.

• Sound knowledge of information security best practices and experience developing related policies and procedures.

• Exposure to special project coordination.

• Experience with Radio communication at sites is an asset.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the operation.

• Demonstrated problem-solving ability.

• Excellent time management skills with a strong ability to multitask.

• Can work autonomously on specific tasks to meet deadlines.

• Ability to handle special projects concurrently and make sound project decisions.

• Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment.

• Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.

• The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off, 10 hour days.
