ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Exploration Geology Coordinator, the Coreshack Helper is part of the Geology department and works in close collaboration with his/her team members, as well as members of the other departments. The Coreshack Helper ensures goals and objectives are attained, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's company culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

TASKS:
  • Participates to all activities at the coreshack surrounding diamond drill core management (opening, measuring, labelling, storing, delivering);
  • Proceeds with the diamond drill core sampling (cut with an electrical diamond rock saw and full core sampling);
  • Participates in the management of mucks, chips and blastholes samples;
  • Ensures that the coreshack is in good order and clean;
  • Ensures all equipment for core shack activities are in good order and in good quantities;
  • Participates in diamond drilling campaigns activities by performing inspection of drill sites, laying out trails to the drills and testing ice thickness when necessary;
  • Tracking of relevant information into a database.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Experience as Coreshack helper or equivalent experience is an asset;
  • Possess the physical requirements to perform the job (lifting between 50-75 pound on a regular basis);
  • Possess a good ethic work, a positive attitude and ability to work in team;
  • Willing to learn
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
  • Position reserved for Inuit candidates.
