Our Transport Projects teams are involved in large-scale multi-million-dollar projects and we are looking for an experienced Foreperson specialising in heavy earthworks to join our team working in New Plymouth on the Mt Messenger project. This project has had a 4 years duration and is continuously growing, so now would be a great time to join the team!

About the Role:

The primary role will be Hands on supervision and direction of a construction crew carrying out bulk earths in a topographically challenging and environmentally sensitive environment.

The Foreperson will be directing and conducting associated activities with a select crew of specialist operators who will ensure all works are conducted safely and productively.

This is a 'hands on' role and the Foreperson will be expected to provide training and development guidance for any existing and new staff. In addition to Earthworks, there will be on occasion requirement to assist construction teams by fulfilling the role of a general operative.

About You:
  • At least 10 years' Practical experience in delivering large and complex Earthworks and Drainage projects
  • Detailed knowledge of machine operation and capability
  • Detailed practical knowledge safe and productive cut to waste, cut to fill, the selection and use of local onsite and imported materials
  • Practical experience and familiarity with Soil and sediment control structures and materials
  • Practical Knowledge and experience with the handling, drying and wetting and modifying of different soil types to achieve the compaction specification required
  • Experience with soil testing techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of safe construction techniques whilst working in steep topography
  • Experience with Machine control both total station and GPS desirable
  • Class 4, WTR preferred
  • Strong planning skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
