The Senior Mine Planning Engineer will plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. The incumbent will drive activities to determine the viability of alternatives and apply best practices in mine design to achieve sustainable safe low-cost mining operations. The Senior Engineer will ensure that the mine production team has the engineering and support to successfully achieve the business plan on a shift by shift, daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Responsibilities

•Plan and conduct surveys, tests, or investigations, interpret results, and prepare recommendations, summaries, schedules, and cost estimates

•Create extensive plans for the 3-24 month horizon through design and scheduling updates and innovative solutions.

•Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities

•Devise new approaches to problems encountered

•Work requires originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and resolution of problems

•Collaborate in the development of CAPEX and OPEX forecasts and variance reporting

•Collaborate in the preparation of Reserve and Resource estimates for the operation

•Create and analyze metrics to determine operational efficiencies and growth prospects

•Work with other departments to identify risk and create mitigations actions.

•Development and communication of mine plans and strategies to support evaluation and senior management decision-making regarding risk and value profiles of life of mine plans.

•Communication and management of significant risk involved in development and implementation of the mine plan including geotechnical risk.

•Application of mining economic evaluation techniques including cut-off grade analysis, risk assessment, and value optimization.

•Ownership and custodian of key mining systems and processes.

•Compile monthly production reconciliations for development and stoping.

•Assist and/or lead continuous improvement projects using data analytics to deliver fit for purpose solutions.

•Coordinate with multiple departments to verify Ventilation and Infrastructure requirements are met for execution.

•Compile monthly production reports for site and regional management

•Foster a collaborative working environment focused on achieving guidance with zero harm

Education and Experience

•5+ years experience in technical roles in mining operations.

•Underground mine planning and design 2 years required

•Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or , Geological Engineering, Geology).

•Registration, or immediately eligible to register as a P.Eng. or P.Geo.

•Technical communication and presentation skills required

•Ventilation experience preferred

•Ability to operate efficiently in MS Office applications, Deswik software suite preferred

•Strong communication and team fostering skills required
