POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager will lead and coordinate activities mine operations, mill operations, centralized maintenance, and surface operations, to achieve the Safety , Environmental and Production targets to keep our production going and our profitability up.

DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•As part of the senior management team, the Operations Manager coordinates activities across the Operational groups and Maintenance to ensure safety and environmental compliance is achieved and the production targets of the business are met.

•Supervise employees; perform evaluations in a timely manner; and coach, counsel, make recommendations, and initiate discipline as needed.

•Control cost and production through efficient delegation and management of resources.

•Perform job observations, workplace inspections and review safe work practices with employees as needed.

•Train and develop employees to improve their capabilities as well as prepare them for opportunities for promotions.

•Ensure employees have the tools, equipment, supplies, guidance, and support to succeed.

•Oversee creation, enforcement, and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the operational departments.

•Must possess superior organizational skills to plan, monitor and adjust to dynamic operating issues.

•Must have excellent ability to gather, analyze, and report information; as well as maintain organized and current files.

•Must possess expertise in emergency management and the incident command system, knowledge, and proficiency for evaluating and mitigating occupational exposures, hazard recognition and mitigation, risk management, and contractor management.

•Take the lead in any emergency and understand HGCMC and Hecla response and recovery plans.

•Must be a leader with a clear vision and possess the ability to inspire, influence and direct people through positive example.

•Must possess excellent communication skills in oral, written, presentation, and training formats.

•Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build consensus utilizing a people-oriented approach is essential.

•Must be willing to aggressively address problems; assume ownership of issues and provide solutions.

•Must be self-directed and self-motivated, demonstrating a high level of professionalism, ethics, confidence, and a commitment to a team approach. Must set personal ethical standards at a high level and interact with others at all levels within the organization in a manner that instills similar values.

•Possesses and demonstrates a genuine ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a team, and encourage collaboration, trust and openness among employees. Must have the ability to develop a cohesive team and empower employees within the organization to perform to their maximum capabilities.

•Must have well-developed management and supervisory skills and a proven ability to develop subordinates, interpret, and respond to other people's concerns, motives, and behaviors, and accurately recognize strengths and limitations in subordinates.

•Must have a working knowledge and expertise of key regulatory and guidance documents applicable to metal and nonmetal mines including: 30 CFR, ATF, HazCom OSHA, and CORESafety.

•Controls costs to meet budget and propose and justify capital expenditures using the AFE process

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Mining, Metallurgy, Geology or associated discipline preferred.

•Experience working in the mining industry with a significant level of technical and operational leadership experience in underground operations.

•Proven success leading a team of Managers or Supervisors to include providing strategic direction for multiple functions within operations.

•Experience partnering with maintenance to achieve results in support of mining, milling, and surface operations.

•Demonstrated experience setting strategic direction and holding leaders accountable for execution.

•Experience developing and implementing Operational Systems & Processes.

•Experience managing budgets and forecasting business needs.
