The Process Control Engineer interacts with operations, accounting, purchasing, mechanical maintenance, and electrical maintenance departments. This position supports processing, administration and E&I departments by performing routine maintenance and new projects in a timely manner.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Follow safe work procedures and best practices.

•Maintain the DCS for process control.

•Maintain the OSISoft PI historian for accurate data keeping, install PI and create new PI Tags.

•Work with Metallurgists and Operations on new process control strategies for the expert system.

•Maintain/troubleshoot expert control system.

•Troubleshoot process control issues affecting plant performance with E & I.

•Improve plant process control by working with Operations, Maintenance, and E & I.

•Perform activities in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.

•Ability to establish effective working relationships with RNMC management and contractors, and be a capable project and task manager.

•Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.

•Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the company.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

•Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, Process Control and Instrumentation or equivalent experience.

•Minimum of 2 to 5 years of progressive "hands on" professional experience, preferably in the mining industry or construction industry

•DCS /Expert Control experience.

•Possess strong written and verbal communication skills with technical writing experience.

•Basic understanding of Project Management.

•Programming experience using Boolean, ladder logic, graphics building, fuzzy logic.

•A valid driver's license.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

•Knowledge of mining, copper flotation and metallurgical processes preferred.

•Capability of applying advanced statistical methods desirable.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

•Instrumentation controls.

•DCS and Expert System Control proficiency.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

•Willingness to travel including overnight as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•N/A

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work.
