Senior Electrical & Reliability Engineer

Executes electrical engineering improvement projects to improve plant electrical reliability, equipment safety and protection and reduce plant electrical downtime. Liaise with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering representatives to facilitate the review of the effectiveness of plant design, operation, and maintenance work strategies. Directs and coordinates engineering projects through planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completion within assigned area of responsibility. Provides technical assistance to Environmental, Technical, Engineering, Operations and Maintenance as necessary to evaluate, troubleshoot, design, or supervise activities required to support daily plant performance. Keeps abreast of best manufacturing and engineering practices, recommends continuous improvement activities, processes, and provides creative input into the future cost and growth opportunities that support the sustainability of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains a portfolio of improvement projects and provide ongoing updates regarding status of project execution and effectiveness. Plans and implements engineering projects including defining the project philosophy, purpose, activities, milestones, and staff requirements. Accumulates quotes, timing, resource requirements and economic justification for projects and writes appropriation requests for approval. Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the assigned engineering project. Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly. Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.

Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents and bid packages. Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications. Coordinates activities involving technical developments, scheduling, resolving engineering design and test problems. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases

Secures contractual bids based on engineering specifications, federal or state governmental regulations, and best practices, estimated project costs and timing. Supervises contractor and/or in-house construction, engineering, and/or vendor personnel and activities, especially pertaining to production plant outage requirements. Conducts safety audits and maintains safe work environment for plant personnel and outside contractors responsible for the completion of projects.

Interacts with end-user to provide project status reports and ensure needs are met. Provides training documents and operational manuals necessary to allow transparent transfer of responsibility to the on-going organization. Produces final project documentation.

Responsible to work with Maintenance E&I function to ensure compliance to applicable codes, coordination of electrical distribution, changes and loads, and compatibility of electrical control components, network and process communications and control equipment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must possess thorough understanding and knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, practices, and regulations. Must be knowledgeable of electrical system protection and trip device coordination. Must have knowledge of power generation and electrical distribution systems. Must have experience reviewing or developing electrical drawings such as single lines, wiring diagrams, and elementary drawings. Must be analytical and detail oriented with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Prefer experience with SEL relays and ETAP modeling software.

Required Education:

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. In addition to the education, there is minimum of 5 years relevant work experience requirement.
