As a Senior Metallurgist, you will provide technical expertise, execution and metallurgical solutions by analyzing production data for accuracy and consistency. Optimize the metallurgical processes and provide accurate metallurgical allocation of gold and silver, including compliance with metallurgical accounting standards. Arrange and control of work to manage heap leaching performance and production. Work closely with process, ore control, assay/metallurgical lab and outside departments to ensure environmental compliance and safety is adhered to daily. Report metallurgical or process issues and make recommendations. Mentor and develop junior metallurgist to further understand metallurgical methodology and application of processes.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide training and documentation of QA/QC compliance for all assay and metallurgical work completed in support of mining group, heap leach and plant optimization.

Distribute weekly reporting to senior management team on all metallurgical tests in progress.

Directly responsible for overseeing the barren and pregnant solution ponds.

Indirectly, train and provide technical knowledge to CIC supervisors and operators on the sensitivity of the metal recovery process.

Adapt to novel process situations caused by the implementation of a new technology upstream of areas of responsibility.

Interact with the Process Superintendent and Laboratory Supervisor on metallurgical samples to ensure proper pH, Alkalinity, Sulfate, Iron, Oxygen, Moisture and metal content are within range in order to produce gold and silver.

Provide a unique perspective on problem solving and troubleshooting.

Organize and maintain operating data that can be used to predict and avoid future processing problems as the performance of the plant is refined over time

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

Education / Certification:

Metallurgical Engineer Degree with a minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years direct metallurgical experience in a production minerals lab.

Skills:

In-depth experience, knowledge, and background in processing. Ability to work with a team environment and excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to assist with budgeting, set priorities, meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy, and to develop, support, and promote safety, environmental awareness and grow the technical talent of direct reports.

The work environment is typical office work space with frequent visitation to inside and outside manufacturing and production facilities / areas that includes but is not limited to: hot temperatures, uneven ground, loud noise, and long-distance transit over rough terrain with moving heavy machinery and non-street legal vehicles present, e.g., forklifts, 200-ton haul trucks, front-end loaders, grader equipment, tracked and rubber-tire dozers, etc.

Equipment Used:

Business equipment such as computers, copier, fax, telephone, mobile devices (iPhone), etc. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required when venturing out into the production areas that includes hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear and other PPE as determined to protect the individual. Use of mine radio equipment and understanding radio protocol / etiquette is required.

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk throughout a mining property through hot, flat, sloping environments which could be hazardous in the absence of due care. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee will occasionally be required to travel in and out of state on commercial aircraft and in various automobiles. There is need to stand, walk, sit, reach and demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear and see.
