Description:

Our client is seeking a Lead Piping Engineer with 8 plus years of experience in chemical processing plants, manufacturing, mining operations, or other large industrial facilities. Successful candidates should have project delivery experience and be well versed in maintenance and operations requirements for large industrial facilities. Candidates should be well versed in the design, operation, and maintenance of piping systems within large manufacturing facilities (e.g. piping associated with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, utility systems, etc.). Additional experience requirements include:

Material handling

•Slurry services (pump, pipe, erosion service)

•Piping and valve design

•Knowledgeable in the requirements of applicable codes and standards (e.g. ASME, API, etc.)

Lead Piping Engineer Job Responsibilities:

•Oversees contractor's design of piping and valve specifications, 2D drawing /3D model development, material specifications, line lists, valve selection, valve lists, insulation standards, coating requirements, pipe / valve sizing, stress analysis, etc.

•Lead piping engineering effort for the company

•Give direction to clerical, technical personnel, and subconsultants as needed

•Manage third party activities including engineering consultants, piping vendors, and the like.

•Develop scope of work documents, piping / valve bid tabulations, material takeoffs (MTO), Bill of Materials (BOM), piping / valve design documents, and specifications.

•Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of task orders, cost estimates, material requisitions.

•Direct preparation of drawings by other CAD Technicians of lesser experience, or take direct supervisory responsibility for CAD staff as needed

•Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.

•Create piping designs independently.

•Code review of applicable local, state, and federal design / operations standards

•Knowledge of 2D and 3D model development, completing design changes, general arrangement drawing production, plotting, and drafting using CAD platforms.

•Have an ability to coordinate with local utilities for piping tie-ins

•Assist in the development of corporate CAD Standards.

•Perform thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for standards compliance and discipline coordination.

•Review and approve contractor's calculations such as pipe stress, flow induced vibration (FIV) and acoustic induced vibration (AIV) analysis

•Assemble reports to document piping changes in the field.

•Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.

•Integrates with other engineering disciplines to advance overall project safety, design, schedule, and budget.

•Work closely with piping designers on assigned projects, be able to read and understand engineering drawings and markups.

•Optimize productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures.

•Create and track metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.

•Participate and actively contribute in the 3D models reviews

Piping Engineer Qualifications/Skills:

•Excellent analytical and math skills.

•Strong written and verbal communication skills. - make technical decision, make project execution recommendations, provide direction to Contractors

•Ability to persuade others to change existing practices.

•Strong attention to detail.

•Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.

•Proficient with computer and information technology.

•Knowledge of piping analyses and software systems.

•Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations.

•Committed to quality and process improvement

•Proven track record of success in delivering projects for clients

•Experience with SmartPlant P&IDs, SmartPlant 3D is preferred but not required.

•Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, and other drafting software

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

Successful candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8 plus years of experience as a Piping Engineer. Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred, but not required. Ideal candidates for the Lead Piping Engineer position have a background in execution of large / complex EPC projects and experience in operations and/or maintenance (+5 years) for chemical processing facilities.

Travel requirements:

Regular domestic travels up to 50% and occasional international business travels
