The purpose of the role is to provide and coordinate Controls and Instrumental Engineering Services for the project site, under the overall control of the Project Manager. You will be required to coordinate the input of controls and instrumentation engineering, design, project control, procurement, contracts, estimating and construction functions for the various projects on site.

Controls and Instrumentation Engineer Job Responsibilities:

•Design and implementation of new control systems projects.

•Provides application/control systems design and development for systems of varied complexity to support capital plan and maintenance engineering projects.

•Develops and evaluates alternative system solutions that meet stated requirements.

•Modifies program/system logic involving multiple systems and subsystems.

•Develops proficiency in multiple programming languages.

•Analyze requirements, procedures, and problems to identify the system components and develop the design and functional specifications for the automation systems.

•Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements.

•Technical resource in process control.

•Compliance with Process safety, ergonomics, MSHA, OSHA, ISO, ISA, environmental agencies, applicable codes, and regulatory agencies.

•Ensure projects comply with standards.

•Departmental record keeping and databases.

•Manage the process control network development and problems.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

Activities:

•Develops technical solutions and evaluates alternative system solutions that meet best practices and corporate requirements.

•Maintains management of change and P&IDs compliance with the capital deployment project plan.

•Demonstrates proficiency in multiple programming languages and control device networks for PLCs, PCs, and DCS systems.

•Analyzes requirements, procedures, and problems to identify the system components and develop the design and functional specifications for the automation systems.

•Coordinates with other engineering disciplines to ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements.

•Communicates technical strategies and results across the business in a manner that the solutions strategies and business impact are readily understood.

•Supports the development of AFEs, including evaluation of project's economics.

•Implement process control projects to support AFEs or operations engineering projects.

•Develops process controls strategies and long-range plans while seeking opportunities to reduce costs and enhance products via control technology

•Assists in diagnosis, maintenance and back-ups of process control systems, data acquisition systems, and infrastructure.

•Implements changes and projects via process control systems.

•Provides training for personnel using control systems.

•Supports ISO efforts and maintains departmental record keeping and databases.

•Troubleshoots network problems.

•Responds to call-ins related to control systems when production is down (must be available on a rotation schedule).

•Develops troubleshooting tools to reduce downtime (remote access).Controls and Instrumentation Engineer Qualifications/Skills:

•Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of new control systems projects, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

•Proficiency in multiple programming languages and control device networks for PLCs, PCs, DCS systems.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or a related Engineering field.

•8+ years of control systems engineering experience.

•Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure preferred
