Staff Accountant 1 or 2 (DOE)
Location: Columbus, MT
(Remote - Hybrid)
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the monthly close process and numerous journal entries. Work closely with site managers on their costs and help with any analysis they may need. Responsible for accurate and timely auditing of contract invoices to ensure contractors/vendors and the Company adhere to the contract terms, assist with logging and routing invoices at the mine site, assist with requisition procedures to ensure Company internal controls are in place and operating effectively, provide backup during the other Site Cost Accountant's absence, prepare and assist in the financial close process in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and regulatory financial reporting, and other miscellaneous projects as assigned by the Operational Controller. Work is based on standardized practices and procedures. Priorities are often set subject to approval. Performance expectations are clearly defined and supervised. Deviations from standard practices and procedures are not permitted without prior approval.

B.A. or B.S. in accounting, finance or business or a minimum of 2 years relevant accounting/finance experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Work with site managers to assist them with cost review and analysis
- Prepare monthly journal entries during the month-end close process
- Perform routing of accounts payable invoices and auditing
- Assist with managing AFE thread and capital spend analysis
- Assist with fixed asset audits as needed
- Assist with yearly budget uploads
- Establish and maintain Company policies and procedures
- Monitor purchases and cost coding through the requisition process
EDUCATION
B.A. or B.S. in accounting, finance or business or a minimum of 2 years relevant accounting/finance experience.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated working knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting
- Ability to manage and organize time and conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Detail-oriented
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- EnterpriseOne software experience
- Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley compliance
