Position Overview
Kiewit is seeking an experienced Offshore Substation power systems engineer to provide design oversight, technical expertise, and guidance for HVAC and HVDC offshore wind collection stations and interconnections to onshore stations. This position is for an experienced power systems engineer with a background in high-voltage station design, with expertise in offshore station equipment and functionality, design criteria, and applicable codes. We are an innovative team of engineers and designers that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit's module fabrication and construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.
District Overview

Our combined staff of more than 1,300 engineers and design professionals have expertise that spans all major engineering disciplines to serve transportation, power, water/wastewater, mining, building, oil, gas & chemical markets. We offer a variety of engineering services, including owner's engineering, project development, detailed engineering and design, construction management, and plant services. Our engineering teams bring power projects to life across North America in the following areas:
• Gas-fired generation
• Power delivery
• Environmental retrofits
• Renewables and new technology
• Water/wastewater
Location

Responsibilities
• Work with the project team to create all design documents and drawings, including one and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layout plan, section and detail drawings and application of mark-ups for project-built drawings.
• Specification development for the procurement, installation, and testing of substation equipment.
• Apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and electrical studies.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project lead, customer representatives, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university
• Five to ten years of experience performing engineering related duties
• Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English language
• Knowledge and understanding of US engineering standards including (but not limited to):
o ANSI C2, C37, C57, C62
o IEEE 1, 4, 80, 120, 1300, 1375, 1459, 1584, 1862
o NFPA 70, 70E, 110, 780, 791, 850
o NESC
• Knowledge and understanding of US Regulatory Requirements including (but not limited to):
o 29 CFR 1910
o 29 CFR 1926
o 30 CFR 585 - Renewable Energy and Alternate Uses of Existing Facilities on the Outer Continental Shelf
o CFR Title 33 - Navigation and Navigable Waters
o NERC Reliability Standard FAC-001
• Knowledge and understanding of international engineering standards including (but not limited to):
o DNVGL-ST-0145 - Offshore Substation Standard
o DNVGL-OS-D201 - Electrical Installations
o DNVGL-RP-C205 - Environmental Conditions and Environmental Loads
o DNVGL-ST-N001 - General Guidelines for Marine Projects
