The purpose of the Superintendent - Mine Planning role is to lead and engage a team of professionals in providing technical support including mine design and planning, projects management, drill and blast designing, surveying, geotechnical engineering, fleet management and equipment maintenance and strategy for purposes of ensuring safe and efficient mine operations.

  • Roster: 5 days on/2 days off/ 4 days on/ 3 days off - 9.5 hour shifts

About our Operation

Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes underground mining and processing complexes in Balmertown and Cochenour, as well as the Bateman Project. As Evolution's newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.

About the role

The Superintendent - Mine Planning role offers an exceptional opportunity to define and optimise mine planning scenarios to maximise business opportunities including consideration of geology, processing and mine maintenance opportunities.

Key result areas in this role include:
  • Ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of design and planning standards and processes
  • Mentor, coach and lead a team of engineers and technical staff to enhance their development and success through setting clear accountabilities and deliverables for direct reports, regular interaction, informal reviews and performance appraisals
  • Provide short- and long-term guidance on geotechnical, drilling and blasting parameters, survey, fleet management and compile this information to create accurate mine planning, scheduling and design requirements
  • Develop and review mine plans (physicals and costs) including short range forecasts, budget and LOM plans
  • Review and deliver timely and accurate capital and operating budgets, regular forecasts and accruals used for effective cost management on a daily, monthly and annual basis
  • Foster a cohesive network between technical and operational personnel


About you

As a Superintendent - Mine Planning, you will have a degree in Mine Engineering with P'Eng designation or the ability to obtain.

It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
  • Demonstrated progressive responsibilities in an underground hard rock mining environment
  • Strong technical knowledge and mining background in planning, scheduling and drill and blast in UG environments
  • Demonstrated competence with mine planning software such as Deswik, Pronto, and MS Office
  • High degree of commercial acumen with previous experience in developing budgets to meet production and service targets
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to support, coach and mentor staff
  • Ability to implement and communicate plans to ensure plans and targets are met
  • High level of self-discipline to deliver outcomes

Company

 The operation comprises the Red Lake, Campbell and Cochenour mines over a strike length of 7km. The Cochenour mine is connected to Red Lake by a 5km haulage drift, with ore processed at the Campbell Mill.

Red Lake is accessible by major highways, with commercial air services to the mine from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Red Lake is supported by an experienced and highly-skilled workforce largely residing in adjacent towns of Red Lake and Balmertown and benefits from strong community partnerships with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nation Groups.

Mining at Red Lake is undertaken predominantly via long-hole stoping. Processing at the Campbell mill is via conventional crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration to recover free-milling gold, with refractory gold recovered by floatation followed by pressure oxidation, neutralisation and CIL.
