CORE RESPONSIBILITIES NOT LIMITED TO;
  • Teach subjects relating to the Australian Curriculum
  • Assist local schools and nurture education on Lihir
  • Prepare young Lihirians for work in the business.
  • Teach specialized subjects in particular Physical Education
ESSENTIAL CRITERIAS
Qualification
  • Bachelor of Education Majoring in Maths / Science
  • Bachelor's degree with ability to teach High School Maths & Science
  • Teacher registration or ability to gain registration
  • PNG Curriculum

Knowledge and Experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience teaching Secondary and Early Adult
  • Experience in teaching a variety of year levels across Preparatory level to adult and will also cater to teaching early adults within the age group of 20-30)
  • Experience working with adults in an education setting
  • Extensive experience in dealing and communicating with various stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in planning and implementing programs
  • Extensive experience in working collaboratively in a team environment

Technical Capabilities
  • Strong understanding of the Australian and PNG Curriculum
  • Ability to cater to diverse learners
  • Average knowledge using Microsoft Office programs
  • Willingness to involve in extra-curricular activities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills

Desirable Advantage Criteria
  • Certificate in Frist Aid
  • Good understanding of current learning theory principles, practices, and methodology
  • Good understanding of individual and group learning principles, approaches, and delivery methods

Requirement
  • Must be willing to reside on Lihir Island
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Ability to obtain a PNG Police Clearance.
