Job Title: Senior Process Engineer (Chemical, Metallurgy)
Location: Mooresboro, NC 28114
Industry: metals processing, industrial manufacturing
Status of Hire: full-time, direct, salaried with bonus
Pay: $125-140k base salary plus up to 12% annual performance-based bonus

Summary:
The primary goal of this position is to improve the overall performance of the leach, solvent extraction and electrowinning process. Performs technical and non-technical work requiring originality, judgment, and technical expertise. Responds to operating, quality control, maintenance, safety, and environmental problems of technical nature. Responsible for initiating and overall coordination of technical projects, both short and long term, from conceptualization through start-up and operation. Position requires limited supervision and involves direct interface with personnel across the Mooresboro site as well as leading and mentoring staff of less-senior process engineers. Position reports to the Technical Manager, Mooresboro.

Specific Job Duties:
Responsible for initiating, proposing, planning, scheduling, executing and/or coordinating technical, process, maintenance, or construction projects which vary in scope and complexity
Includes identifying/ recommending resources needed to execute projects
Identifies opportunities for overall process improvements
Arrives at functional solutions to operating, maintenance, and environmental problems
Evaluates metallurgical processes, performs basic process and engineering calculations, analyzes process and test data, develops equipment specs and writes technical reports
Receives supervision and guidance only in terms of specific work objectives and critical issues
Solves non-routine technical problems
Provides technical consultation to operating personnel in establishing or revising operating and maintenance procedures
Develops specialized or non-routine procedures
Provides technical service to sales and marketing personnel
Interprets test and operating data and makes appropriate, timely recommendations, based on fundamental scientific and engineering principles
Participates in new process development
Trains and professionally develops any persons supervised; provides adequate and necessary supervision of subordinates
Monitors quality control and environmental compliance
Interacts with contacts outside the company such as vendors, customers, trade, and professional organizations
Initiates reports/memos as required or appropriate
Communicates significant information in a timely manner
Identifies, evaluates, and recommends potential process modifications to effect cost savings or quality improvements

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to wear all safety equipment used in plant
Maintain orderly and safe work area
Reinforce company safety rules and programs
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
Must be able to travel to attend seminars/conferences, visit customers or suppliers, or conduct tests/projects at off-site plants, as required
Computer literate with word processing and spreadsheet
Write operating procedures and instructions for new or modified processes

Experience and Educational Requirements:
BS in Chemical, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering
5+ years of industrial process experience, preferably in a hydrometallurgical operation and/or design environment (or similar metals, chemicals, oil, gas, or mining operation)
Strong analytical skills and a desire to get involved in hands-on (in-plant) mechanical problem-solving
Supervisory experience with strong communication skills are desirable

**Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer, regardless of authorization or visa transfer
**Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background check to be eligible for hire
**Must be comfortable being fitted for a full-face respirator for wear within certain parts of the plant
