The Role:

Our Supply-Chain and Logistics team is a centre of excellence for Downer New Zealand. Specialising in the New Zealand Telecommunications area, the nationwide Downer New Zealand Supply-Chain and Logistics team are seeking a focused Team Leader who has strong leadership and relationship building skills to assist in further strengthening customer service delivery standards.

Based in Porirua, you'll oversee the entire Downer Porirua logistics team and will be responsible for all inwards, storage and order activities including monitoring and managing all stored inventory whilst continuously identifying areas for improvement.

You will also be responsible for:
  • assisting the Supply Chain Manager in implementing, innovating, and managing warehouse processes to support all aspects of product storage and distribution.
  • Health and Safety is a crucial aspect of Warehouse operations. You will take the lead in ensuring that Health and Safety processes and procedures are always adhered to by your direct reports.
  • Coaching, developing, and leading your team to perform at its very best while ensuring internal and external customer relationships are maintained and developed.

This is a full time (Monday-Friday) permanent (40 hours a week) opportunity to join our team based in Porirua, Wellington.

About You:

Either a proven Team Leader or someone who has demonstrated leadership skills and ready for more responsibility, you'll be a seasoned logistics professional from a fast-paced technical environment supplying in-house customers.

You'll be accustomed to delivering to tight deadlines, adapting to changing priorities and providing clear guidelines to your team. You'll be described as a motivational leader who is able bring teams together, build pride in quality work as well as a skilled relationship builder who communicates effectively to ensure your team is respected and trusted by their customers.

In addition, you'll offer:
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong numerical skill is desirable
  • Familiar with good warehouse processes and KPI's
  • Current forklift license
  • Experience with disputes and handling queries with stock losses and gains is desirable
  • Competent MS Office skills, especially with Excel
  • Experience with ERP and WMS systems is essential
  • Commitment to Health & Safety
