WesTrac are currently seeking a Laboratory Chemist to lead our Laboratory Quality team.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Chemist is accountable for the validation of all laboratory fluid analysis techniques, methods and results of fluid samples (e.g. oil, coolant, fuel, etc).

The individual is responsible for ensuring continuous improvement of all scientific methods, audits and developing best practices for the Laboratory and as such will act as the Subject Matter Expert in this regard.

The Laboratory Chemist has two direct reports which consist of Quality Systems Support and QA/QC Coordinator and will provide coaching, training, and distribution of tasks to these team members.

Location: South Guildford.

Roster: Monday – Friday, 8-hour days.

To be successful the following is required:

• Tertiary degree in Chemistry or significant demonstrated industry experience,
• Strong background in laboratory techniques and proven prior experience in a lab environment,
• Knowledge of or experience within heavy asset management field an advantage (e.g. mining & construction equipment, etc),
• Previous experience leading a team,
• High level of attention to detail and analytical skills, as well as strong computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office),
• Knowledge of NATA accreditation requirements, ISO & ASTM analysis and quality standards, &
• Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously.
