We are hiring a Payroll Manager to lead a large team that processes all of Kiewit employee payroll for the US and Canada. This team works at a fast pace, in a high volume transactional environment, processing around 35,000 paychecks per week! Location

This position is based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street, Omaha, NE. We do offer a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for hiring and developing a highly engaged team of Payroll Processing and Master Data Specialists/Analysts, Leads and Supervisors to provide efficient, high-quality support and outstanding customer service to all areas of the Kiewit organization. Support payroll processing for Kiewit teams in the United States and Canada. Must be able to hold team and others accountable for expected quality and accuracy within the payroll process.
  • Provide guidance, and coaching on development, and initiate disciplinary actions when necessary. Provide feedback and encourage learning by team members; create growth opportunities for others, transfer knowledge to others and challenge them to develop their own solutions.
  • Articulate clear performance goals and provide frequent performance measurement feedback.
  • Establish priorities, allocate time to maximize benefits, and manage team resources to ensure the highest level of productivity and accuracy.
  • Develop and set a clear and compelling vision for the future, creatively consider alternative strategies to achieve future goals. Ensure procedures and controls are followed.
  • Pro-actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement within the department and act upon findings to initiate improvements, presenting ideas in a persuasive way to gain support.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external Kiewit departments; understand Kiewit's core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business critical issues.
  • Identify situations where activity is occurring outside of standard company policy and communicate these situations to the appropriate management level for follow up.


Qualifications

  • BS degree is required in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area.
  • Must have at least 3+ years of supervisory or management experience, preferably leading a team in Payroll, Accounts Payable, Business or related area, where there are highly transactional functions, high volume of work and fast paced organization.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in Payroll.
  • Experience delivering Payroll in SAP or similar system
  • Must be able to demonstrate the following leadership skills: emotional intelligence, effective verbal/written communication, coaching, problem solving, conflict resolution, delegation, talent management and team-building
  • High level of initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment, while still maintaining high quality standard
  • Demonstrated experience with performance management, coaching and development of a team, enabling them to achieve their best and to contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives with the ability to research issues, act upon findings to initiate improvements, presenting ideas to other members of the organization to gain support
  • Ability to make decisions and plans based on the vision, direction and long-term strategy of the organization, as well as experience in implementing strategies and of defining and establishing procedures
