About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a full-time Paramedic to join our Mount Milligan Mine operations site.

This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off Wednesday to Tuesday, with a 12-hour daily schedule.

The Paramedic will be responsible for providing pre-hospital assessment and medical care to people with acute illness or injures, and playing a critical role in the site emergency preparedness and response plan.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing and maintaining the first aid services plan on site
  • Maintaining the onsite medical facility, its equipment, and inventories to industry standards
  • Maintaining a constant state of emergency preparedness including cleaning, decontaminating, and inspecting emergency vehicles and equipment
  • Providing routine medical care and advanced life support services to the mine site
  • Responding to emergency calls for medical assistance at accidents and emergencies
  • Administering drug and alcohol screening as per company policy
  • Providing monthly reports and statistics concerning site injuries and incidents
  • Participating with Emergency Response Team and emergency response drills
  • Preparing and reporting the patient's history, condition, and treatment to relevant hospital staff


About You

To qualify, you must be a Primary Care Paramedic licensed to practice in British Columbia and 4+ years experience in heavy industry.

T he following skills and experiences will be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • Occupational First Aid level III or equivalent certification
  • Class 4 British Columbia Drivers License
  • CPR-C Certification

Training in drug and alcohol collection would be considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will also be a self-motivated team player with strong communication and conflict management skills.
