Job description:
General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Electrical Trainer will be required to develop and deliver electrical training, including electrical safety, to MPSA employee as well as contractors and subcontractors/vendors working for Minera Panama project. Prepare assessment materials and criteria, conduct assessment of personnel in electrical discipline .
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
  • A Tertiary Qualification in Electrical Engineering and/or related Electrical Trade Certificate.
  • 8-10 years of direct experience in an electrical maintenance role.
  • 5 years' relevant electrical trainer experience.
  • Strong electrical safety and problem solving AC circuits skills.
  • Strong heavy plant equipment electrical/electronic measurement/testing skills.
  • Strong heavy plant equipment electrical trouble shooting and fault finding skills.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawing, specifications, and wiring installation skills.
  • Excellent motivational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong record keeping and data management skills.
  • Variable speed drives knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to read, train and understand electrical &P&ID drawings.
  • Soft starters knowledge (Thesys)
  • Maintenance and operating knowledge of electrical low and medium voltage systems, protection calculations and settings.
  • Maintenance and operating knowledge of LV and MV electrical transformers.
  • GMD maintenance.
  • Strong ability to work in a "team" environment as a mentor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organisational and record keeping skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Professionalism in application.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Computer fluency is a must with expertise in maintenance management systems and MS Office
    Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
    • Create training strategies, initiatives, and materials.
    • Develop schedule to asses training needs.
    • Provide the ongoing maintenance and improvement of training related matters.
    • Provide internal and external training.
    • Provide support in compiling compliance evidence as needed.
    • Monitor all employees to ascertain if follow-up training is necessary.
    • Ensure full and accurate training records are being maintained as per compliance requirements.
    • Promote a positive culture and sustain the required level of maintenance training compliance.
    • Maintain the training capabilities and records for the maintenance team.
    • Perform other duties as required.

        Operational Requirements
        Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
        Environmental Responsibilities
        • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
        • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
        • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
