About the role

Rio Tinto Iron Ore, together with Traditional Owners, are proud to be re-launching the Aboriginal Training and Liaison (ATAL) Programme. ATAL is a pre-employment training program for Indigenous people and will support participants to develop skills suited to employment in different jobs and industries across the Pilbara, and not just within mining. • Encourages growth of Pilbara communities

We are looking for a Programme Lead - ATAL to partner with Traditional Owners to continue to develop and mature the program. You'll be maturing the ATAL framework into a pilot program for implementation and assuming accountability for ongoing success.

This is a great opportunity to deliver results through teamwork and building lasting partnerships at all levels and across multiple teams. You'll have a passion for unlocking the potential in people, building great teams, a true collaborator and trusted advisor who can drive business outcomes.

Reporting to the Project Manager - Participation and working in an exciting environment within the Iron Ore People function, you will be:
  • Leading the program to achieve key milestones in the initial 18 months to set the program up for success and transition to business as usual
  • Ensuring the program meets the principles of the program and the expectations of our Traditional Owners partners
  • Supporting marketing of the program, including initial community and Prescribed Bodies Corporates (PBC) marketing prior to the launch
  • Connecting with and maintaining relationships with PBCs and community members to support candidates for inclusion in the program
  • Supporting trainers and mentors to design and deliver bespoke training outcomes for candidates
  • Supporting the connection of candidates to employment opportunities across identified pathways, inside and outside of Rio Tinto
  • Providing delivery support and guidance to community partners, and logistical support to our Pilbara Iron Ore sites
  • Recruitment and selection of relevant ATAL roles as the program evolves - starting with mentors/trainers

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Ability to coach, influence, and lead
  • Experience designing, implementing, and driving successful outcomes with work ready programs
  • Experience working in operational environments
  • Significant community engagement stakeholder skills and experience
  • Experience in project-managing business-wide initiatives
  • Effective influencing skills when engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to scenarios and modify the program to continuously improve
  • A passion for building relationships with Traditional Owners and across Indigenous communities and stakeholders
