Lehigh Hanson Materials Limited is seeking a Mine Planning Trainee based in Vancouver, BC. This position reports to the Exploration and Resource Development Manager. This opportunity provides you the opportunity of hands-on experience in mine planning across the region gaining exposure to multiple levels of management and a variety of complex geologic structures, operational challenges, and varying extraction methods for Lehigh Hanson's sand and gravel mining operations.  30% travel will be required.

What You'll Get to Do
 

• Participate fully and actively in all assigned development activities
• Apply knowledge and work collaboratively on various team projects related to training and development
• Support mine planning activities including:
  • Preparation and review of short term, mid term, and long term mine plans
  • Conduct haul fleet assessments
  • Quarry Plan Health Check reviews
  • Mining and geology project management
  • Consultant management
  • Annual mine update reports to regulators
  • Dump design, haul road design and pit design
  • Overburden management plans
  • Waste dump and settlement pond inspections and data collection
• Learn basic supervisory skills by working side by side with experienced supervisors

Essential Experience and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, civil engineering with a mining focus, or a related discipline will be considered 
• Must have a strong desire to work in a mining and industrial environment
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative
• Solid interpersonal and leadership skills
• Ideal candidate will have a strong desire to move into progressively more responsible roles and can relocate if required
• Class 5 license is required with access to own transportation
