Job description:
General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
The Contracts Officer will provide support to the Supply Chain Department - Contracts Area, in the planning, drafting and administration of contracts for the supply of goods and/or services required for the sustainability of the Cobre Panama Mine operation.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
  • Degree in Law /Business or related field
  • 2+ years of progressive work experience in contract management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of any ERP system and JDE Oracle will be advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office application.
  • Familiarity with the fuel (or similar) industry exposure would also be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with practices, processes and procedures throughout the supply chain.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices, principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of administrative practices and personnel management
  • Fluency in English is required and proficiency in Spanish highly regarded
    Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
    • Lead and coordinate with the internal customers and stakeholders the planning, formation and commercial administration of the contracts required by Company's operations.
    • Lead and execute sourcing process for the supply of goods and services to ensure the Company is getting the best value, including the preparation of the sourcing documents; review, coordination and issue of amendments; lead the integral evaluation and negotiation of proposals; and issue the recommendations to award.
    • Use the appropriate standard contract documents to prepare new contracts and contracts amendments.
    • Conducts post award commercial contract administration activities in terms of tracking and monitoring the compliance of the contractual obligations, monitor the supplier performance, review and negotiate the contracts variations and price adjustments, issue and record the correspondence.
    • Carry out the contracts closure (as applicable), following proper Company procedure to ensure property disposition, final payments, and documents/clearances have been received
    • Continued identification of risks and opportunities throughout the Contracts lifecycle.
    • Build strong, value-adding relationships with contractors, internal customers, and cross-functional departments.
    • Execute early internal and external key stakeholder engagement and their buy in, during the sourcing process and even during the commercial contract management stage.
    • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama, Company's policies and guidelines and in particular the Contracts area procedures and the Company Local Procurement Policy.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

        Operational Requirements
        Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on
        driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
        Environmental Responsibilities
        • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
        • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
        • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
