Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivatedJunior Rail Vehicle Mechanical Engineerto join our Infrastructure Vehicle Mechanical Engineering group in ourAmbler, PAoffice.
In this role, the ideal candidate isa mechanical engineer with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.Candidates must have knowledge of core mechanical engineering concepts. Some experience working in the rail industry is a bonus. An FE registration is desirable but not required.

As the successful candidate, you will:
- Participate in inspections of rail vehicle and infrastructure maintenance activities
- Assist in the review design submittals, and the preparation of detailed descriptions of review findings
- Participate in technical working sessions to address issues raised by clients
- Inspect and review prototype and first article equipment and prepare detailed descriptions of review findings
- Participate in quality assurance and manufacturing audits under the direction of senior staff
- Prepare technical briefs, presentations and reports that identify work progress, defects/non-conformances, and areas of concern
- Witness electro-mechanical equipment undergoing qualification testing, including shock and vibration, environmental, and functional testing
- Assist with the conduct forensic investigation of failed components and equipment and reporting findings under the direction of senior staff
- Develop technical specifications for mechanical equipment
- Provide engineering support as required
You bring to the role:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- A minimum of 0-2 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical and structural engineering
- Familiarity with mechanical engineering (Kinematics and Dynamics; Materials, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and HVAC)
- Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, work well within a team, take direction from other senior staff members, be able to multi-task on a variety of work assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver license (travel to various carhouses and infrastructure sites required)
The following skills/experience are a plus:
- Experience with Autodesk and AutoCAD software
- Basic programming skills
- Experience of Finite Element (ANSYS or Equivalent) Software
