About ASARCO Grupo Mexico

ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company), the U.S.-based subsidiary of Grupo México, is an integrated copper mining, smelting, and refining company with approximately 1,400 employees. Grupo Mexico is a transnational mining company with operations in the U.S., México, Spain, and Peru. We are creating accelerated-growth Development programs for Engineering undergraduates who are looking to develop a long-term career plan in ASARCO Grupo México. Our Development program is tailored for Mining, Mechanical & Metallurgical engineers who will be able to choose between two career paths: Operational Leadership and Technical Leadership.

About the role:

• Rotational program to gain diverse experience in the operational function (Concentrator, LSXEW) and the technical portion in the lab
• Operations Rotation - Will supervise a workgroup (Milling, Flotation, LSXEW), and then other operations supervisors, with the goal to join plant management
• Technical Rotation - Will become an expert in ore types and be responsible for evaluating process data, metallurgical testing, and continuous process improvement on the milling, flotation, or the SXEW plant
• Will develop and implement optimization and cost-reduction strategies
• Conduct metallurgical accounting for the plants
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage teams
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and have strong organizational and time management skills
• Must have excellent computer skills with the ability to learn technical software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to lift and move 50 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to traverse steep areas including berms and muck piles
• Must be able to handle temperature extremes
• Must be able to walk and hike for extended periods of time

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY

• The job requires training or instruction in the area of environmental Awareness.
• This job requires training or instruction in the area of Safety & Health awareness including completion of the appropriate MSHA training.
