Job description:
General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Training Supervisor is responsible for implementing industry-leading training programs for the Port and Power Plant departments.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a Technical / Trade Training Centre.
  • Experience in developing technical course content.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical terms using simple language.
  • A Higher National Diploma in any of the following field: Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Building, Construction and Technology.
  • Certifications in Training and Safety highly preferred.
  • Additional certification in training (e.g. Certified Technical Trainer) is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
  • Excellent understanding of the operational requirements for a large scale power plant particularly in regards to safety, reliability, and dispatched operation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at establishing and executing operational training for a power plant of this size and complexity.
  • Certifications in Training and Safety highly preferred.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
    Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
    • In line with the strategic plan, prepares and coordinates fully the Power Station annual plan and budget.
    • Plans and direct in-service training activities for the instructional and supervisory staff.
    • Monitor the quality of assessor performance through observations of their practice, identify development needs and facilitate development to maintain and improve centre quality.
    • Work with assessors, trainers, Ops Managers and learners to ensure the standardisation of assessment practice and outcomes.
    • Ensures that trainers have all the necessary resources to deliver quality education and training, including equipment, teaching aids, space, physical set-up etc.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

        Operational Requirements
        Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
        Environmental Responsibilities
        • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
        • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
        • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
