Job description:
Purpose
Reporting into the Superintendent Mills Operations, Advisor Technical is tasked to provide expert advice in all areas of the operations of the Mills with a focus on sustainability, continuous improvement and long term viability of the of the Mills.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges
  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Develop standard safe working procedures and actively participate in HSE initiatives.
  • Ensure employees work in compliance with H&S (e.g. isolation, lock out and tag out), quality and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice on the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the use of best practise techniques and procedures for station specific aspects.
  • Provide visible front line ownership of the ongoing construction activities including quality control.
  • Actively participate in the daily planning and operation of the Mills operations and maintenance including the cyclone, pumps, screens and gold circuit.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams implementing new tailings management programs.
  • Actively participate in the development of Life of Mine and detailed 5 year planned operation methodology.
  • Actively participate in the overall management of the facility's operation.
  • Assess cyclone, pumps, screens and gold circuit operations principle and provide input into its optimization.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to Mills operations.
  • Actively participate in improvement & optimization programs and measure their effectiveness.
  • Participate in the development of the dam surveillance and inspection program and its implementation.
  • Participate in the development of a risk registry specific to the Mills and its infrastructures.
  • Participate in the development of training and safety programs.
  • Mentor, lead and provide technical support to effect skills transfer and promote quality orientation.
  • Manage performance by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching.
  • Promote a positive employee environment ensuring a continuation of a solid working relationship with all employees.
  • Implement FQM Way culture across the team - "Smarter, Bolder, Driven, Together".
  • Act as deputy for colleagues as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Mills Operations.
    Skills, Knowledge & Experience
    • Education
      • Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or related senior trade certificate.
      • Skills
        • Excellent leadership, motivational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
        • Mentoring and coaching skills.
        • Excellent cognitive and analytical skills to problem solve.
        • Demonstrated capacity to establish Quality system standards
        • High level understanding of civil and geotechnical strategies.
        • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to analyze data and provide clear and accurate reports in both an upward and downward direction.
        • Computer fluency is a must.
        • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
        • Experience
          • Minimum 5 years' experience in Mills management.
          • Minimum of 2 years in a Supervisory position.
          • Previous experience with cyclones, pumps, screens and gold circuit methodology highly regarded.
          • Language
            Fluency in English and Spanish is highly regarded. A willingness to undertake language training is desirable.
