SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

We are seeking a Consultant (Resource Geology).

Description of Responsibilities:

We currently have an opportunity for a Consultant (Resource Geology) to join an experienced Geology team based in central Cardiff. This opportunity will involve working on a diverse range of exciting projects with multi-disciplinary teams both in the UK and overseas. International travel will be required; the primary role is to act for SRK as a Resource Geologist, providing competent consulting services to SRK`s clients. Particular importance is attached to ensuring successful delivery of aspects of projects in a well-timed and cost-effective manner and in representing SRK professionally to SRK`s clients. This is an initial 12 month contract.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree, or equivalent, in a Geology related subject.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills (English language)
  • Aptitude for learning and working with a variety of software, including 3-dimensional modelling
  • Commitment to the health and safety of the team


Desirable:

  • Experience using one or more mining software packages, such as Vulcan, Datamine, Leapfrog, etc.
  • Business development skills
  • Experience of working with a variety of commodities
  • Knowledge of international Mineral Resource and Reserve Reporting Codes


Essential Requirements:

The work involved in undertaking this role may include the following activities, as well as other responsibilities as required:
  • Undertaking resource estimates for projects at various stages.
  • Evaluation of exploration properties, exploration status reviews, sampling studies and exploration programme management.
  • Conducting resource and reserve audits.
  • Undertaking metal accounting reconciliations and sampling strategy reviews.
  • Undertaking production scheduling designs/audits.
  • Assisting with production and auditing of technical-economic models.
  • Collecting, recording and cataloguing of geological samples; interpretation of results and compilation of formal reports.
  • Developing geological plans and sections to interpret conditions for a variety of site evaluations.
