The Role:

Downer's Power and Energy business is seeking a Senior Cost Controller to join the team at the Milton office (Brisbane) or North Ryde office (Sydney). Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will support project reporting, forecasting, scheduling, costing planning and commercial activities for all allocated Downer projects

Your responsibilities include:

• Lead and assist with the compilation of project budgets and forecasts for the business unit
• Monitoring of actual costs versus approved budget costs
• Allocate costs against correct cost codes and process account transfers
• Updating, management and maintenance/improvement of cost control systems
• Contacting key internal and external stakeholders to ascertain progress of project tasks/deliverables
• Tracking of engineering man-hours vs budget/schedule
• Deliver cost control reports to meet internal reporting
• Monitor and update project costs
• Working with commercial personnel to help assess supplier and vendor claims
• Application of key project metrics such as earned value, cost productivity and schedule productivity to estimate project costs at completion
• Liaising with key internal stakeholders and validating progress claims vs project budget, contract claims and estimate forecast
• Calculation of month-end earned value and accruals
• Submission of end of month figures to the Project Board within required month-end timelines
• Prepare and review monthly cost summary reports including cashflows and EV forecasts

About You:

• An experienced Cost Controller: within the construction industry and use of Candy system advantageous
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (Business/Accounting/Engineering)
• Experience working in project controls
• Understanding of contract terms and requirements
• Understanding of earned value calculation and management
• Intermediate to advanced experience with office software (outlook, word, excel)
• Experience using JDEGS software an advantage
• Strong communication skills to engage effectively with commercial, engineering and finance personnel with regards to all matters pertaining to project budgets
• High level of attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
