The Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Lead to join our Vancouver Regional Office.

The accountabilities for the Procurement Lead to be delivered through inspired leadership focused on duty of care, operational discipline, value creation and continuous improvement are:
  • Support share holder and corporate value through demonstrated achievement toward the strategic objectives
  • Ensure effective safety and health management across areas of accountability through high standards of housekeeping, effective critical controls, and proactive elimination of hazards
  • Promptly investigate all injuries, actual or high potential incidents within your area of responsibility and ensure that corrective actions are completed on time and verified
  • Driving operational discipline in alignment with business priorities and expectations through clearly defining what is expected, ensuring understanding of expectations, verifying that expectations are delivered on and leading by example
  • Collaborate with peers and management in identifying and pursuing cross discipline initiatives to deliver on business needs
  • Support the delivery of contract management processes including change management, progress claim verification, variations, site instructions and letter correspondence between Newcrest and contractors
  • Support the development and improvement of business opportunities under the Impact Benefit Agreements
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategy for category of responsibility and update on a quarterly basis
  • Support the development and improvement of supplier management
  • Support the development and improvement of supplier and service master data
  • Lead tenders including plan, prepare, and manage of the documents and process, analyse, and evaluate commercial proposals
  • Lead the technical evaluation process in coordination with Project Owners/Managers
  • Drive supplier consolidation of contracts across site (i.e., consolidate civil works and maintenance shutdown labour hire)
  • Administer contracts (post-award), including evaluating pre-mobilization deliverables, negotiating/resolving disputes, negotiating changes, implementing change management procedures, and closing contracts
  • Reference legal and commercial terms and rely on those terms to manage contractors, advise Project Owners/Managers and project teams on the use of these terms
  • Ensure site contract management and SAP pricing are accurately maintained in Ariba

About You:
  • Relevant post-secondary qualifications in Business Management, Supply Chain, Accounting, Law or similar
  • Logistics and Materials Management experience or similar
  • Project Management or similar (desirable)
  • Highly capable in contract negotiation and influence
  • Ability to formulate strong business relationships (internal and external)
  • Experience communicating effectively to a wide range of audiences, both in writing (e.g., briefings, announcements, brochures) and verbally (e.g., presentations, meetings, one-on-one)
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation, planning and organizational skills
  • Experience in heavy industry contracts, procurement, and logistics
  • Experience working on heavy industry sites, preferable in mining
  • Experience with business opportunity development for landowner, indigenous or first nation groups desirable
  • Strong understanding of contract lifecycle, project procedures, project roles and responsibilities
  • Ability for strategic and pragmatic thinking, and a growth mindset. Able to make decisions taking into consideration an array of perspectives

Additional Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Proficient with P2P platforms such as SAP
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience in contractual and commercial terms
  • Experience in commercial and market analytics
