Our Team:

Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, you’ll find Vale’s Base Metals Technology Development team; a group of highly trained engineers and scientists working to improve Vale’s competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Sr Analyst, Procurement to join our Procurement team in Toronto. This is a permanent and remote position.

The incumbent in this position will execute the procurement of materials, equipment, and services for operations, aiming to assure the supply of items for business continuity, at the lowest total cost of ownership possible, achieving industry best practice standards of delivery time and quality of products and services.

Key Responsibilities
    \t
  • Meet the requirements of our internal customers in accordance with established procurement goals, policies and procedures
  • \t
  • Assure availability of goods and services through the adherence to existing agreements and, when vital, contract amendments or renewal.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies
  • \t
  • Work with team members and other partners to develop sourcing plans
  • \t
  • Prepare RFP packages and carry out sourcing in accordance with industry standard methodologies
  • \t
  • Analyze the submitted proposals from a commercial perspective and negotiate contract terms and conditions which are favorable to Vale and seek to reduce the company’s risk exposure
  • \t
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships and conduct business in a confident, objective, and respectful manner
  • \t
  • Coordinate vendor management process throughout the life of the contract, ensuring compliance and performance
  • \t
  • Represent Vale’s Procurement Organization in meetings with a variety of internal and external customers
  • \t
  • Coordinate all jobs, contracts and related documentation with due diligence and integrity, adhering to all legal, and company, policies, and procedures.

  • Follow-up activities related to procurement area as for analysis, support, and implementation of projects.
  • \t
  • Create, develop, and control reports, research and other administrative activities.
  • \t
  • Analyze indicators, bottle neck mapping and process improvement mapping.
  • \t
  • Act as a resource to customers in procurement. Carry out company Policies and Norms or raise to supervisor.
  • \t
  • Collect, track, analyze and resolve supply chain issues, based on information provided by both parties.

About You
    \t
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the procurement field (preferrably on heavy equipment purchases and MRO categories)
  • \t
  • An Undergraduate Degree (Business, Commerce or Legal programs preferred) or a technologist diploma in civil, mechanical, electrical, construction or mining field or equivalent confirmed experience
  • \t
  • Certification in a professional association (P. Eng., SCMA) an asset.
  • \t
  • Experience related to procurement (mining, petrochemical or heavy manufacturing industry is preferred)
  • \t
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles and processes, Canadian contract law, commercial terms and procurement to pay business systems.
  • \t
  • Provide leadership in the preparation of sourcing documents
  • \t
  • Understand and RFP processes, protocols and industry best practices
  • \t
  • Strong use of MS Excel, pivot tables, VLOOKUP
  • \t
  • Co-ordinate and lead all activities during sourcing cycle including clarification questions and issuance of addenda
  • \t
  • Review and evaluate proposals, negotiate prices and terms and conditions
  • \t
  • Identify business risks and initiate steps to mitigate
  • \t
  • Review and understand exceptions to terms and conditions and assess issues with requested changes
  • \t
  • Create appropriate agreement type with good understanding of the scope of work and commercial structure
  • \t
  • Take ownership of assigned commodities and category
  • \t
  • Understand and lead business requirements for assigned category
  • \t
  • Carry out basic need's analysis, find opportunities, develop and implement strategies
  • \t
  • Carry out relationship Supplier relationship management
  • \t
  • Tackle new projects and re-prioritize as business and procurement needs change
  • \t
  • Support others on team in achieving their goals
  • \t
  • Tackle new and progressive responsibilities
  • \t
