What You Will Do

The Maintenance intern will assist the function in updating the Total Cost of Ownership process and related tools, which provide a framework for deciding if physical assets need to be replaced or repaired based on current and expected operational context. In addition, the intern will support the function in providing assistance to different sites globally on enhancing the performance of their equipment in terms of safety, reliability and efficiency towards achieving business objectives.

They are very hands-on and take mentorship seriously, so you will receive a lot of support, guidance, and training to gain the skills you need to get the job done. By the end of your internship, you will have learned about critical processes and practices for the optimal management of physical assets as pertain to the mining industry in both mining and mill areas, as well as the processes, technologies and business systems utilized to achieve such optimization.

Must Haves

  • 3rd or 4th year student in Mechanical or Industrial engineering, but candidates studying other forms of engineering or mathematics may also be considered.
  • Lodgings in Toronto for the duration of the placement
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong time management skills; the ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines
  • Strong capabilities and experience in the use of advanced Excel functionality


  • Nice to Haves

  • Language skills in French, Arabic, Portuguese, or Spanish
  • Experience working with culturally diverse teams
  • Experience working in an industrial environment is an asset
  • Use and knowledge of advanced statistics and mathematic tools an asset (Maple, Matlab, Minitab, etc.)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite
