Our Transport Projects Division are involved in some of the most demanding projects in some of the most challenging locations across New Zealand. Our Teams are involved in large scale multi-million dollar projects across all civil infrastructure disciplines. We are currently delivering a large number of key major projects including the Wiri to Quay Park Third Main, Northern Network Transportation, City Rail Link, Cameron Road Upgrade and there are several other exciting opportunities on the horizon.

We are now looking to appoint a Project Accountant to join us in the Taranaki region as we continue to work through the construction phase of our more exciting projects in the North Island.

About the role

The Project Accountant role will work as part of the project team, and more specifically the Project Controls Team to meticulously deliver financial reports that are true and accurate and that fairly represents the project financial status.

As part of your role, you will be required to:
  • Manage the accounting timetable at the end of the month to ensure deadlines are met and reporting is produced on time.
  • Assist the Receptionist / Administrator with plant department data entry.
  • Review / complete Plant Department reconciliations to plant usage records and supplier invoicing, and post journal entries.
  • Oversee invoicing and credit control. Ensure overdue amounts are pursued and all reasonable action is taken to collect amounts owed to the Alliance.
  • Contribute to monthly cost-to-complete forecast process.
  • Assist with resolution of audit queries (for both Alliance Participant internal audits, and external audits).
  • Provide financial information to the Commercial and Project Controls Manager if required for the compilation of the monthly NZTA claim.

About you:
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise appropriately (including escalation of issues if necessary).
  • Able to work effectively remotely.
  • Flexibility in location will be required as the role may require being based at project sites for periods of time as project requirements dictate.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in the Construction sector with exposure to project-based accounting systems would be an advantage
  • Ability to work well as part of a team essential.
  • Essential to hold a tertiary qualification or equivalent in Accountancy, Business Management or similar. Full membership as a Chartered Accountant with CA ANZ or equivalent
  • Ability to challenge confidently and clearly and where necessary identify potential solutions
