Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Transit Systems Consultant to join our North American Infrastructure group. Primary office location will be Newark, NJ , however, the following locations will also be considered: Brooklyn, NY, Philadelphia, PA and Washington, DC.

In this role, the ideal candidate is a transit systems specialist with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must have knowledge of core transit system concepts and a 7 to 10 years of professional experience. Experience working in the Fare Payment System industry is preferred.

As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Perform technical and project management tasks related to the design, manufacture, installation, test, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of transit technology systems of all sizes and modes to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with required scope, quality, schedule and budget
  • Interact with managers and engineers from transit authorities and system suppliers on the design, installation, and training and maintenance of transit technology systems
  • Organize and lead regular meetings with clients and suppliers as defined by the contract. Examples: Progress Reviews, Milestone Payment execution, Master Project Schedule review and updates, change control board, and technical/operational working group meetings
  • Perform and document manufacturing audits and QA inspections of prototype, first article equipment and production equipment
  • Monitor system performance and adherence to KPIs and SLAs and make recommendations for improvements
  • Assist with the conduct of forensic investigations of failed components and equipment and reporting findings


You bring to the role:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in engineering as well as prior transit or rail experience
  • Knowledge of Transit Technology systems such as fare payment technologies, GIS, GPS location, CAD/AVL, Mobility as a Service (MaaS), wayfinding, GTFS and open data standards
  • Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and multi-tasks across multiple projects
  • Strong mathematical, data analytics, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Strong organizational skills, self-starter, work well within a team but also able to receive and provide direction to other staff as required, ability to multi-task on a variety of work assignments and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to travel to various client sites at a 20% to 50% level dependent upon project location(s) and level of effort required
