Job description:
Purpose
Professional who possesses the technical competence, gained through related experience and training, to teachand supervise tree felling management. No less than five years of tree climbing experience with proper use of harness, rope, safety knots, use of spurs, full use of PPE and the ability to safely handle chainsaw at heights. Knowledge of tree species in Panama, growth habits and pruning techniques, tropical climate, risks related to insects and / or animals in the region and how to work with lianas. Experience in working with obstacles - experience in knotting is essential: knowing how to tie branches with secure knots and safe tree limb techniques. Experience with cranes, truck with basket.
Responsibilities and challenges
• Evaluation and safe planning of tropical tree pruning
• Documented identification of hazards and risks
• Documented inspection of equipment used in scaling and tree trimming daily
• Work together with a FQM representative to safely plan tree felling and pruning near power lines, buildings and / or any obstacles
• Communication between maintenance and tree felling group in the Project
• Climb and dismantle trees safely
• Cutting of branches at great height
• Work in the felling of branches next to power lines
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• Education
• Basic Secondary Studies
• Studies in Dendrology Required
Abilities
• Tie knots (Friction knot, cowboy knot, intermediate knot, weaver's knot, ascension knot, anchor knot)
• Safe tree ladder with harness, lifeline
• Throwing the rope
• Management of pruning at height
• Manipulation of chainsaw in the treetops
• Safe techniques of climbing trees in sections
• Five years of experience as a climber
• Trained in emergency response
• Use of spurs
• Cutting down trees and branches next to electric cables
• Pruning at height with a crane or basket truck
• Work in a multicultural environment
• Good verbal and written communication
• Solve problems
• Works team management
• Driver's license type
Experience
• 5 years of experience in the mentioned activities.
• Experience in Reforestation activities

Working conditions
Cobre Panama is a remote place. The position is offered as permanent on site. 104 rotation under normal conditions or as the employer deems appropriate.
