Job Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mining Systems, the Analyst, Mining Systems is responsible for delivering and maintaining innovative digital mining technology. The Mining Systems team is responsible for a portfolio of business-critical systems that are used to optimize the safety, productivity, and environmental sustainability of our mining operations. You will interact with innovative software, hardware, and service suppliers across all our operations to develop, deliver, and maintain these systems. These exciting technologies to optimize fleet efficiency include autonomous and conventional Fleet Management Systems, rugged mobile computers, geotechnical monitoring, and collision avoidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate the assessment, design and the implementation of mining systems and edge computing technology projects for mining assets.
  • Support and sustain technology across Teck sites by ensuring the business objectives of the Mine Operations, Engineering and Maintenance departments are met.
  • Develop and leverage relationships across Teck operations and corporate offices to facilitate alignment of objectives and encourage communication and collaboration between operations in all geographic regions.
  • Apply innovative thinking to derive more value, reduce work and improve adoptions in new and existing technologies.
  • Develop expertise and breadth of knowledge by performing cross-team support for other Operational Technology teams.
  • Adhere to the Teck Digital Systems change control and other policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain standards and documentation.
  • Facilitate and support cyber-security improvements, incident response, and forensics.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years of experience delivering and supporting information technology services preferably in a mining or industrial setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multi-functional team participant and collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a highly distributed team environment.
  • Sophisticated analytical, root cause analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory and networking fundamentals.
  • Valid class five drivers' license with a clean driving record.
  • Working level Spanish is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with CAT MineStar products, Komatsu Modular products, High Precision GNSS solutions, Geotechnical Monitoring solutions, Drill Navigation & Rock Recognition technologies, In-vehicle safety systems or other related mining systems is preferred.
  • Programming experience such as .NET (C#) (preferred), Python, and Java along with strong scripting and automation experience with Powershell, etc - "we believe we can automate everything."
  • Experience with Windows Desktop Deployment and software packaging is an asset.
  • Supporting and deploying Linux operating systems at an enterprise level is an asset.
