Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

Hatch is seeking a Contract s Agent to join its team in Salt Lake City, UT USA. The Contract s Agent is part of a team focused on the management of construction and service contracts during the execution of EPCM projects and has a significant contribution in participating in the safe and successful completion of projects. The Contract s Agent manages pre- and post-award contracting and contract administration activities ending at close-out and handover of the project.

The Contracts Agent will be based in Salt Lake City, UT for the pre-award contracting phase of the project and then transition to the project site in northern Nevada to perform construction contract administration activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contract formation: bid, evaluation, negotiation of terms and conditions, recommendation to award, award
  • Contract administration
    • Conduct kickoff meeting, weekly progress meetings, claims meetings
    • Contractual change control relating to cost and time
    • Contract cost and schedule monitoring and progress meetings
    • Payment audit, certification and cash flow forecast
    • Claims administration
    • Develop, process and implement contractual documents and change notices in a timely manner
    • Administrate contracts in accordance with requirements of contractual terms and conditions
    • Maintain various contract registers and as per project specific instructions
    • Drive the deliverables and inputs as required from the quantity surveyors
    • Management of bonds/guarantees
    • Manage disputes; administer backcharges to contractors
    • Contract closeout and handover of documentation to Client


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or other applicable area of study
  • 10+ years' experience in capital construction contracts (formation, administration) and site services (maintenance) contracts
  • EPCM project experience
  • Experienced and skilled in Lump Sum, T&M, cost plus, guaranteed maximum price, other contract types
  • Experienced in remote location projects
  • Contracts/Legal related training
  • Experience with drafting and execution of commercial terms and conditions and an understanding of accompanying legal implications
  • Negotiation skills
  • Experience working on large construction sites
  • Excellent understanding of procurement processes and corporate governance principles
  • Ability to fit into a team environment and personal skills to compliment teamwork development
  • Ability to mentor junior colleagues


Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Local/Regional US Rocky Mountain knowledge of suppliers, contractors, service providers
  • Mining /Metals Projects
  • Advanced degree
  • CPCM, other equivalent certification
