Job description:

Purpose

Reporting to the Lead Procurement and working closely with the support staff, the Procurement Administrator will be responsible for effective expediting activities across the Cobre Panama site in accordance with Group policies and procedures, as well as the adherence to all relevant statutory requirements.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges
  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the section.
  • Adherence to all FQM Cobre Panama policies and standing operating procedures.
  • Perform expediting activities for goods and materials from local and international suppliers as required, including, but not limited to, the following:
    • Expedite supplier purchase order receipt and purchase order delivery dates with local and international suppliers to meet the needs of the business.
    • Monitor, report and escalate local and international supplier non-compliance with agreed delivery dates.
    • Facilitate customs clearance with local clearing agent for goods and materials delivered by international suppliers.
    • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers to remedy anomalies in materials delivered.
    • Liaise with suppliers and internal customers to ensure timely inspection of equipment and materials during manufacture where required.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships within the procurement, wider commercial team, and all areas of the Operation.
  • Be an active contributor to the 'team' environment of procurement personnel striving to consistently deliver and exceed expectations.
  • Undertake nominated training activities to maintain and up-skill required competencies.
  • Execute duties with the focus to reduce operational costs.
  • Adopt the FQM Way culture within the team - "Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together."
  • Act as a deputy for colleagues as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Lead Procurement.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Education
    • A Tertiary Qualification in Purchasing Management or relevant discipline preferred.
  • Skills
    • Highly developed communication and negotiating skills.
    • Strong ability to work in a "team" environment while possessing the ability to work autonomously.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
    • Strong computer skills in MS Office.
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience
    • Minimum 2years experience in international and local expediting activities including interactions with international freight forwarders.
    • Experience with ERP systems, particulary JDEdwards highly regarded.
    • Previous mine site experience highly regarded.
  • Language

Good verbal and written language skills in Spanish and English are highly regarded allowing reporting and negotiation in both languages.

Working Conditions
Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered as Residential or BIBO.
