We have an exciting opportunity to become part of this high-performing team in Gisborne as an Asset Engineer. Reporting to the Asset Manager, this role is responsible for the planning, operational management and delivery of the forward works programme of renewals, determining effective maintenance programmes and contributing to the strategies that drive them.

About the role:
As the Asset Engineer, you will support the Asset Manager, the Operations and Technical Services teams and internal and external supply partners as one collaborative group. You will be well supported by an experienced team who work across various contracts.

You will find yourself performing tasks such as but not limited to:
  • Managing the processes associated with the provision of data and condition collection, including inspiring a team of inspectors
  • Data analysis, treatment selection and the development of the forward works programmes include asset inventory and database management and oversight of data quality.
  • Work with operational staff to ensure maintenance intervention strategies are followed, and decisions are made with a "best for network" approach.
  • Training and developing the supplier team in the use of asset management processes and tools
  • Examining assets, selecting methods of valuation and submitting written assessments
  • Calculating values by considering market demand, condition of items, future trends and other factor

About you
You will ideally have a passion for the civil construction industry and a tertiary Engineering qualification (or equivalent). You'll also bring with you proven industry experience and knowledge, but experience in advanced asset management will be advantageous. You'll also have in your skills toolkit:
  • Experience and skills in asset management and/or data management software and the ability to understand and translate large amounts of data to usable information - as a minimum, proven experience in Microsoft Excel and/or Access.
  • The ability to follow set processes and instructions with high attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills and ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues clearly and rigorously to maximize impact - this is a budding leadership role, a perfect place to start people leadership
  • Proven ability to manage multifaceted supplier/service provider relationships and develop effective working relationships

The salary for this role is $80,000.
