Position Overview

We are seeking a self-motivated Tax Accountant to join our Corporate Tax team, who is self-aware and who takes initiative. As a Tax Accountant at Kiewit, you must be assertive to take on learning activities and grasp developmental opportunities. You must also have the ability to build relationships quickly and naturally, as these relationships will bring you the credibility needed to operate as a successful business partner within Kiewit. Whether you have a year or two of Tax experience, or you've only studied it in school, this is a great opportunity to work in the Private sector, with very little travel, and more work/life balance than Public Accounting. This position is based out of Kiewit's headquarters at 1550 Mike Fahey Street. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting.

Responsibilities

Kiewit Corporation is seeking a self-motivated individual to work as a Staff Tax Accountant in our Corporate Tax Department. Responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of personal property tax returns and related workpapers, ensuring timely completion
  • Analyze and review assessment notices
  • Reconciliation of property tax bills to ensure accurate payments
  • Research and gather data for property tax appeals and audits
  • Ensure timely preparation and completion of tax incentive compliance
  • Research tax impact of business transactions and developments
  • Monitor and analyze impact of tax legislation
  • Examine current processes to improve efficiency and quality of work
  • Support ongoing and new projects within the department


Qualifications

This position requires self-awareness and initiative. This individual must be assertive to take on learning activities and grasp developmental opportunities. A successful candidate will be highly motivated and have the ability to build relationships quickly and naturally. These relationships will bring this candidate the credibility needed to operate as a successful business partner within the Kiewit Companies.
  • 0 - 3 years of tax or accounting experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Willing and able to put in the time required to meet deadlines
  • Able to work independently, and as part of a team
  • Some travel may be required
