Construction Planner

Location: Stillwater Mine Nye, MT

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Construction Planner is a direct report to the Mine Support Construction General Foreman. This position provides support to the construction team through the planning and scheduling of operational and capital project work at the Stillwater Mine. The Planner will undertake the duties and responsibilities ranging from project support, conducting QA/QC audits of field related work, and driving initiatives for process optimization. This position will also carry out duties supporting the construction team in the development and progress tracking of work on operational and capital infrastructure projects.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma and 1-2 years of specialized training in mine operations or a related field, and 5-7 years of related work experience; OR bachelor's degree in mine engineering or related field and 1-2 years related work experience
  • Working knowledge of underground mining operations including safety, production, maintenance, economics, equipment, and staff utilization
  • Supervisory and management skills and experience
  • Leadership qualities including character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Understanding of underground construction methods, water/compressed air distribution, shotcrete/concrete application, mine water discharge, and mine ventilation.
  • Understanding of underground mining methods/terminology
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and train employees on various assignments/equipment
  • Must meet and maintain qualifications for working with explosives per the Safe Explosives Act.
