Candu Energy Inc. is a leading full-service nuclear technology company providing nuclear power reactors and nuclear products and services to customers worldwide. Our 1,200 highly skilled employees design and deliver state-of-the-art CANDU® reactors, carry out life extension projects, provide plant life management programs and tools, and offer operation and maintenance services for existing nuclear power stations. This role is based out of the Candu Energy Inc. home office in Mississauga, but will required up to one year of full time, on-site support to an active CANDU reactor refurbishment within the province of Ontario.

Job Description

Mechanical Engineer/Engineer-In-Training

Responsibilities:
  • Design of CANDU fuel channel components
  • Engineering calculations to support design of pressure boundary components
  • Preparation of formal technical reports
  • Review of design documents, calculations and drawings
  • Provide engineering support during procurement
  • Provide engineering support during manufacturing and installation
  • Prepare engineering budgets and support proposal preparation
  • Execute engineering activities within budget and schedule
  • Provide accurate reporting of engineering work to technical and project managers
  • Support customers during the execution of reactor component replacement at Ontario based refurbishment projects


Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a university of recognized standing
  • Licensed or eligible to be license as Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experienced in the application of GD&T
  • Drive for continuous learning by own initiative
  • Experience in finite element mechanical analysis using ANSYS/DYNA/ABAQUS is a preferred
  • Experience in classical stress calculation
  • Good time management skills
