Reporting to the Manager, Finance Sustainable Development, the Cost Analyst is responsible for facilitating the finance planning, controls, and business analysis processes for the Sustainable Development (SD) Team. This position will work closely with Departments across SD to support timely Financial and Operational Reporting, including development of key performance indicators, dashboards, and financial model development.

This person has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and displays a strong dedication to ethical management behaviors and business and reporting practices. The ability to work independently in fast-moving and dynamic environments is vital for success.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide critical insights into opportunities for improvement, maintain existing data systems, and provide monthly reporting to Site and Corporate groups. In this role you will assist in providing business analytics, reporting, simulation, modelling, and financial evaluation, as well as providing executive decision support.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Provide cost model support and maintenance for all stages of the annual business planning cycle, including forecast, budget, Five Year Plan and Life of Mine
  • Maintain an effective financial control and reporting system for activities unique to the SD department, including management reporting enhancements for water operations and projects, and non-routine spend approval processes
  • Coordinate financial planning, and operational activities and strategies to provide financial guidance, advice, and analysis to support the financial reporting cycle
  • Review and interpret financial results, forecasts, and economic studies with management to determine the financial impact on the operation and Coal BU


Qualifications:
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum three years' experience in full cycle accounting, financial planning, or operational continuous improvement, preferably in the resources industry
  • Sophisticated financial analysis, problem solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Advanced user of financial data and reporting systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite® Excel, PowerPoint, Power Query and Power BI
  • Experience in Dynamics AX, D365, Atlas Reporting, Hyperion or OneStream would be an asset
  • Programming knowledge such as Python would be an asset
