Sourcing Procurement Specialist

Purpose

The Sourcing and Procurement Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end development of the mine site sourcing plan across all categories of spend for the mine site and implementation of the sourcing and procurement strategy and processes to effectively support mine site spend.

Responsibilities

  • Manages offshore sourcing staff and indirectly manage offshore procurement staff through third party Business Process Outsourced service to support all sourcing and procurement activities.
  • Development of the mine site sourcing plan across all categories of spend
  • Identify and develop suppliers in the market to support operational needs for both goods and service contracts
  • Analyze multiple data sets to identify opportunities and category insights to share with end users and category managers.
  • Analyze a broad range of spend categories and work with multiple business functions to achieve the best TCO (total cost of ownership)
  • Challenge end users with productive ideas based on subject matter expertise as well as strong spend and market intelligence
  • Prepare strategies for negotiating commercial and contractual conditions.
  • Lead negotiations and coordinate with strategic contractors to acquire services according to operational requirements, seeking the best possible terms, quality condition and total cost of ownership.
  • Prepare recommendations to award and document the business case and benefits obtained from the RFx process before the award of new contracts.
  • Introducing automation to reduce workload and costs and improve process efficiencies.
  • Develop and work with First Nation (FN) contractors/suppliers to further business opportunities. Creating awareness within the local FN vendors to encourage and improve the engagement.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of the FN Procurement work shops
  • Work with end-users to build strong scopes of work
  • Working with end users and contractors so they understand the Newmont contract policies and procedures.
  • Works with Regional and Site leadership and end users to report total cost of ownership savings associated with new contracts
  • Work with regional and category managers in the development of The RFX processes for their categories as required.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Five to eight (5-8)+ years of sourcing and procurement/buying experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Sourcing plan development and implementation
  • Knowledge of SAP or equivalent enterprise level software packages is necessary. Ariba knowledge a bonus.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft office, specifically Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
  • Natural Resources experience a plus
  • Strong Market Intelligence Skills
  • Supervisory experience managing a team of at least 3 to 5 individuals


Working Conditions

The work schedule for this position is 4 on, 3 days off, working 12-hour days.
