Reporting to the Portfolio Manager of the Renew Operational Systems (ROS) team, the Project Cost Controller will support the application of project controls practices including areas of cost controls and organizational change. Included also are integration activities with estimating and scheduling functions.

Requirements:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Prepare and implement the project cost management plans in a manner that provides accurate and timely control of project costs, and accurate costs for reporting to key stakeholders: including ROS Program Manager, Portfolio Manager, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Accounting, and the RACE Budgeting & Forecasting Team.
  • Support the set-up and implementation of the Project Controls management systems, processes and workflows.
  • Assist with preparation of the overall Project Control Plan and validating ROS project invoices with Sites.
  • Support the development of the project budget by aligning the project estimate and procurement packaging plan and present the project baseline budget for approval.
  • Perform the required cost control transactions and functions.
  • Support the analysis of project cost impact and delays and review of periodic project cost updates.
  • Arrange and facilitate Project Cost and Schedule review meetings.
  • Prepare project cost status reports, cost trending, and cost analysis.
  • Provide monthly project variance analysis and an early warning to management on cost variances to the approved baseline/forecast for all ROS projects.
  • Acts as a focal point of contact for project coordinators and project managers in acquiring detailed project cost information, including invoices, payments, accruals, etc.
  • Perform change management functions and maintain change management records of scope changes, trends, and variances.
  • Continually review, maintain and ensure the data integrity and credibility of the information contained in the ROS cost book file.
  • Prepare monthly project accrual costs in coordination with Project Managers and submit accrual costs to site Accounting and RACE Accounting by deadline dates.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of month to date and life to date project costs with site costs received by the RACE Accounting team and actively resolves cost discrepancies.
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly project forecast in coordination with the Project Managers.
  • Submit project costs and forecast reports by sites and by domain to the RACE Budgeting & Forecasting Teams.
  • Ensures ROS project budgeting and forecasting comply and align internal practices and guidance.
  • Collaborates with RACE Budgeting and Forecasting Team on annual and periodic budgeting and forecasting requirements.


Qualifications:

  • 7-9 years of experience in Project Control Roles is required
  • Experience in Project Control roles on Program and/or Portfolio of digital technology projects is preferred
  • Experience in agile project management is an asset
  • Strong coordination, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities
  • Solid skills in cost control, cost system application, planning, progress measurement and project budgeting
  • Solid software skills in Excel is required, skills on Project Online and SharePoint are preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
