Hatch is currently accepting applications for Junior Piping Designer/Drafter, working in our Calgary Office. If you have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and understand innovation, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:
• With guidance apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment, piping layout or general arrangement and Isometric drawings of industrial buildings and processes
• Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups
• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical and piping systems
• P&ID drafting and review
• Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models
• Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities
• Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise

Skills and Experience:
• Technology Diploma or Process Piping Drafting Certificate
• Minimum of 1 year piping design experience or equivalent relevant experience
• Be knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, various design tools, piping system design, discipline workflows, and industrial components/processes
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, ProCAD P&ID, CADWorx and Isogen
• Design, drafting and modelling skills in 2D and 3D environments
• Working knowledge of piping components and materials
• Ability to take instruction and work independently
• Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and codes as required for piping design
• Experience with isometric production control and monitoring
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred:
• Good understanding of design principles related to mechanical and/or piping systems
• Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
• Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges
• Adapts and embraces change.
