Rio Tinto Iron Ore's Mine Technical Services is seeking an industry experienced, mining degree qualified Mine Planning Engineer to join their team supporting the Marandoo mining operation in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. This key role will be responsible for 2 weekly planning activities to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer and working within the Mine Technical Services team, key accountabilities for the position include;

* producing and managing the site's 2 weekly plans in Alastri Tactical Scheduler to a high standard with relevant optionality and flex

* delivering mine plans that align with long term strategy and clearly deliver value

* addressing bottlenecks and convert opportunities across the value chain

* being accountable for grade quality performance

* maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and making sustainable improvements.

This permanent position will be offered on a fly in, fly out work schedule of 8 days on site and 6 days off, out of Perth and will suit a Perth resident or someone willing to relocate to Perth on a permanent basis.

About you

With a tertiary degree qualification in Mining Engineering, you will have demonstrated mine planning experience within an open cut mining environment. Iron ore experience is preferable, but not essential. You will have a strong focus on meeting key milestones, operational constrains and production risk mitigation.

It is essential that you have a good understanding of the end-to-end mining process and strong software skills with experience in Alastri products, Expac, Maptek or Vulcan desirable.

We're looking for someone who can positively influence the behaviours of those around them, and effectively collaborate with a diverse stakeholder group. You will have an ability to verbally present information to a wide variety of stakeholders and effectively sell the 2 weekly plans to the business.

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets: a world-class, integrated network of 16 mines, four independent port terminals, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure - all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand.

The Marandoo mine is located at the foot of Mount Bruce adjacent to the Karijini National Park, 50 km east of the town of Tom Price. Marandoo is known for its picturesque hills and mountain ranges. Our operation currently employs a fly in fly out workforce.
