Job description:

General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

Reporting into the Commercial Business Improvement function, this role will require both creative and collaborative working with the Commercial area and the wider business. The role will involve promoting continuous improvement, identification and implementation of improvement initiatives, data analysis and reporting, and project management.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • Professional qualification CIPS, Business Improvement or Systems related
  • Desired - A Tertiary qualification in Computer or Engineering, degree in statistics, mathematics, Supply Chain or a related subject involving maths, such as economics or data science.
  • Desired - Green or Black Belt (Lean Six Sigma-related qualification)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within all levels
  • A high level of mathematical ability
  • Understanding of Lean principles and continuous improvement
  • Ability to analyse, model and interpret data
  • Problem-solving skills
  • A methodical and logical approach
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to adhere to standards, work with limited supervision, and meet deadlines for service delivery.
  • Strength in planning and organisation.
  • Strong experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to work to a high standard under pressure in a sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, preferably in large or international environments.
  • Hands-on working experience of SQL reporting services
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Proven experience communicating face-to-face with customers collecting requirements, implementing and providing technical support.
  • Experience with Tableau and other BI platforms desirable.

Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the Commercial department, spanning across logistics, procurement, warehousing and inventory areas, including interfaces with other departments
  • Scope and execute improvement initiatives, using Lean methods and principles
  • Develop methods to instil a culture of continuous improvement across the department
  • Execute projects through applying Project Management best practices
  • Responsible for identifying root causes of possible inefficiencies of inter-department areas
  • Work with the ERP team to ensure data integrity of all applications
  • Data analysis and reporting to management
  • Responsible for identifying gaps in current business processes and development of new processes where required
  • Develop performance metrics and reporting tools, and establish ad-hoc reporting to enhance department efficiency
  • Responsible for analyzing data and generating monthly dashboards/reports
  • Assist the business with development of standard operating procedures, guidelines and the document management thereof
  • Contribute in developing functional excellence and benchmarking against world best practices
  • Preparing reports based on analysis and presenting to management.
  • Key player in moving the department forward to mature digital transformation phase
  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Develop standard safe working procedures and actively participate in HSE initiatives.
  • Carry out formal workplace inspections on a routine basis.
  • Ensure work is executed in compliance with H&S, quality and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Adherence to IT policies and processes to ensure consistent quality of service and responsiveness.
  • Consider cost saving measures without compromising service delivery.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Operational Requirements

Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered to be located at the mine site.

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
  • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
  • Comply with the provisions of the Cobre Panama Environmental Management System.
