Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Hydrology Consultant to join the Hatch team in Saskatoon. This position will involve being part of a team of global of experts and specialists to complete challenging projects in dam engineering, design and rehabilitation across Canada and around the world.

As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Managing projects that are generally concentrated within the water resources, flood control and hydropower sectors with opportunities to participate in the infrastructure and mining/industrial sectors.
  • Overseeing engineering analyses and designs in collaboration other disciplines
  • Preparing detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications and correspondence.
  • Developing business, writing proposals and presenting to clients.
  • Mentorship and development of junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Undertaking technical reviews of documents and technical drawings prepared by the team
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic modelling and analysis (using HEC and MIKE tools) as well as using GIS tools for analysis and presentation of concepts


You bring to the role:
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical, Structural or Water Resources Engineering.
  • 8+ years post-graduation engineering experience.
  • Registered, or eligible to be registered, and licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the Water Resources, Flood Control, Flood Protection and/or Hydropower sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in site investigations, dam engineering and rehabilitation from concept to construction and construction support from tendering to inspections
  • Proven experience in the types of analyses and design processes required by the Canadian Dam Association Dam Safety Guidelines and Practice Bulletins.
  • Leadership skills with an aptitude to mentor and develop junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Team focused with excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of multidisciplinary projects.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license
  • Ability to travel within Canada and Internationally on short term assignments as required.
