About the role
Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs
We are looking for a Third-Party Risk Manager based in South Africa, to support the Rio Tinto Ethics and Compliance (E&C) team, and the central Third-Party Due Diligence team, in implementing the Third-Party Risk Framework. This is a great opportunity to be recognized as an expert in your own area requiring specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise.
Reporting to the Director of Third-Party Risk Management you will be responsible for implementing the Third-Party Risk Management Framework by:
- Conducting due diligence: You will work with the central TPRM Due Diligence Operations team in London and Singapore, the TPRM Analyst in Conakry, the Business, Community and Social Practice team, other specialist centers of excellence, as well with regional Ethics and Compliance teams to conduct due diligence on third parties and manage third party risks.
- Monitoring key risk mitigations: You will monitor the implementation of risk mitigations of select third party engagements and advise management of identified concerns in a timely manner
- Providing risk opinions: You will advise management and the Director Third Party Risk Management on practical matters relating to risk appetite setting using your subject matters experience and knowledge of the local environment.
- Engaging with selected third parties: You will engage with third parties to explain to, or train them on Rio Tinto policies and procedures, as well as assist select third parties in completing information that Rio Tinto may require for due diligence purposes.
- Reporting to designated governance structures: You will support the Director Third Party Risk Management by preparing governance papers, and in certain cases, presenting at governance committees tasked with overseeing the Third-Party Risk Management Framework
- Managing an in-country TPRM analyst:You will be responsible for managing a third-party risk analyst, based in South Africa on a day-to-day basis.
What you'll bring
You will:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Africa
- Possess a university degree and/or at least 8-12 years' experience in ethics and compliance/or risk management, business intelligence and risk consultancy.
- Be a self-starter capable of working in complex multi-jurisdictional environments,
- Be a clear communicator in English in verbal and written forms
- French language will be an added advantage
- Be capable of providing credible operational and tactical guidance to the business on third party desirability
- Ideally possess prior experience in multi-national corporations in resources or financial services.
- Be willing to travel for work.
